Growing
The basic starting point
for all gardens and gardeners is knowing how to grow and look after your own
plants successfully. Gardening is a skill that is learnt over many years, but
some of the essential elements can be established quite quickly. The following
brief guide will help you to gain an understanding of general plant growing
techniques, covering sections like seeds, seedlings, plants, cuttings and related
subjects.
Planting Annual and Perenial
Plants?
Both types of plant can
be planted in the garden using much the same methods. Always refer to the plant
care labels for any specific requirements.
When planting perennials,
you must consider that your plant will be in the same spot for several years.
So you need to ensure that the soil and location will be matched to the plants
requirements.
Annuals will be a temporary
plant, and will grow in any reasonably rich soil, with a minimum of feeding.
Dig a hole 2-3 times larger and twice as deep as the annuals pot, adding commercial
potting soil into the hole will ensure that your annual plant has the best chance
of establishing itself in the new location.
Water the plants well, as
the roots will need plenty of water to ensure healthy growth.
