Midgeater Plus Instructions:
Please take
the time to read these instructions carefully before switching
on your Midgeater™ Plus and observe the directions for safety
at all times.
The materials
and workmanship have been used to ensure that no functional
defects occur provided the Midgeater™ Plus is used for its designed
purpose only.
The Midgeater™
Plus draws midges towards it using a plume of harmless carbon
dioxide. The machine mimics a large animal. When midges fly
towards it they are expecting a tasty blood meal.
The Midgeater™
Plus then sucks them into a disposable bag. - no insecticides
are used.
For best
results the bag should be changed when 1/2 to 3/4 full. The
additional bag should then be attached to the unit to attain
continual use. The occupied bag should be tied using the draw
string then left for around 24 hours, preferably in a sealed
bag, then the contents should be disposed of in a responsible
manner, e.g. on a compost heap, etc. The Midgeater™ Plus does
not need to be switched off when changing bags, as midges are
not drawn into the trap while the door is open.
If preferred
the bag can be washed and re-used.
1. Prior
to Starting Unit

Inside service
pack you will find a bait tablet and two capture bags. Remove

of capture area and place one bag on outer pipe. The elastic
will hold bag in place. Close door. NB - Please wash hands after
handling bait tablet.
Change
of tablet
It is recommended
to change the bait tablet when changing gas bottle.
Precautions
for Handling Bait Tablets
The bait
tablet is harmful if swallowed, absorbed through skin or inhaled.
Avoid skin, mouth and eye contact with the tablet. Wash thoroughly
with soap and water after handling. Avoid inhalation.
Statement
of Practical Treatment
If inhaled
- move to fresh air. If on skin - wash affected area with soap
and water. If in eyes - flush with plenty of water. Call a physician
if irritation develops.
Disposal
of Used Tablet
Wrap used
tablet in paper and discard into rubbish bin.
2. Connecting
Midgeater™ Plus to Propane Cylinder
Open main
door of Midgeater™ Plus and place 13kg Patio Gas inside. The
Midgeater™ Plus regulator is of the 27mm clip-on type designed
for simple connection to 13kg Patio Gas.

Refer to
regulator operation instructions for use.
3. Operation

1.Turn grey
switch of regulator to on position.
2.When starting from cold the system will have to be primed
i.e. hold black button in for approx. 15 seconds. This lets
the gas flow through the hose.
3.Press button on control panel (black) and hold in position.
4.After 5 seconds press igniter button (red) until a pop is
heard, the gas has now ignited.
5. Keep the button (black) depressed until the power indicator
needle has moved from red section to the green section. This
should take approximately 90 seconds.(please note that if the
button (black) is released at any time during the above operation,
you must repeat the process from step 1)
6. After releasing the black button the pointer on the power
indicator will continue to rise.
The unit
is now in operation. To check, open capture area door after
approx. 5 minutes to observe fan in operation. If you think
machine has a fault, please refer to supplier - see contact
us page.
The Midgeater™
Plus is designed for continuous operation, it will run until
gas supply has been exhausted.
You will
know if machine stops by looking at the power indicator above
the service panel which will show the pointer in the red as
opposed to green when in operation. Another indication will
be that the fan inside the capture area will have stopped.
Repeat the
operation instructions to restart the Midgeater™ Plus. If you
require to switch the Midgeater™ Plus off for any reason, this
must be done at the regulator of the gas cylinder.
4. Machine
Placement
As midges
are attracted to any warm, CO2 producing source (including people
and animals) the machine should be sited away from where people
congregate. Ideally the midges should reach the Midgeater™ Plus
before they reach the people.

It may be
worth trying several locations to identify which is the most
effective for your Midgeater™ Plus. Furthermore, changes in
wind direction could alter the midges’ behaviour so it may be
necessary to move the trap from one location to another throughout
the season.
5. Storage
Always
ensure the MidgeaterPlus™ is left for 1 hour after switching
off prior to storage. If storing inside, the gas cylinder must
be removed. Never store the gas cylinder in the home, below
ground level or in an unventilated place.
6. Normal
Cleaning and Maintenance Instructions
The unit
should periodically be wiped clean of any residual midges using
a wet cloth.
7. Important
